Minors

Children may never become homeless. For this reason, families with children who are no longer entitled to reception, can be transferred from the asylum seekers' centre to special family centres. The level of facilities at a family reception centre is moderate. The guidance is fully focused on return.

Unaccompanied minor aliens

Unaccompanied minor foreign nationals are asylum seekers under the age of 18 who are not accompanied by a parent when they enter the Netherlands. They come to the Netherlands alone or together with other children and/or 'strange' adults and apply for asylum. The COA will assist and accommodate them in reception centres for youth.
