COA
COA, the Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers, is responsible for the
reception of asylum seekers. COA provides accommodation during the asylum procedure
and prepares asylum seekers for staying in the Netherlands, returning to their country of
origin, or transmigration.
To carry out these tasks, COA closely cooperates with the IND (Immigration and
Naturalisation Department), the Aliens Police and the Royal Netherlands Military
Constabulary.

COA is an independent administrative body funded by the Ministry of the Interior and
Kingdom Relations. The Minister for Immigration and Asylum Policy is politically
accountable.
